Club Infomation Rhodesian Ridgeback Enthusiasts of Dallas The Rhodesian Ridgeback Enthusiasts of Dallas (RRED) began in 1994 with only a handful of people who were primarily interested in establishing a breed club that focused on fun and educational events for members and their dogs. We currently have a membership that includes not only dog owners, but exhibitors, breeders, and obedience instructors. The Rhodesian Ridgeback Enthusiasts of Dallas has had numerous educational seminars that include information on puppy nutrition, canine emergency care, canine artificial insemination, and the Rhodesian Ridgeback breed standard. Activities for the club has included tracking, lure coursing, obedience, and agility just to name a few. Other activities RRED has sponsored are nature hikes, Canine Good Citizen testing, tattoo clinics and supported entries for Puppy and Veteran classes at state conformation specialties. The Rhodesian Ridgeback Enthusiasts of Dallas has grown from a very small club of less than ten members in 1994, to a club of more than sixty members in 1999. With the membership becoming increasingly diverse, it was necessary to update the RRED Mission statement in 1998. Our mission statement is as follows: RRED members are people who wish to share in their enjoyment of the Rhodesian Ridgeback through fun and educational activities for both Ridgebacks and their owners. Our emphasis is on the Ridgeback as family pet, and so we gear our activities toward performance events, with conformation and breeding secondarily. We encourage responsible pet ownership and quality breeding. We support the Rhodesian Ridgeback Club of the United States (RRCUS) Rescue Program. We in RRED focus on our dogs as family members and life companions. We have at least five scheduled activities per year in which all Ridgeback enthusiasts are welcome.
